Career in Banking. Common Written Exam (CWE)

If you want  to be a specialist officer in Banking sector ,then you can look forward for Common Written Examination (CWE)which is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personal Selection (IBPS). Various Banks use score card of this test for the selection and for giving appointments.
With the expansion of banks there is increas in the demand for large number of professionals in Banking sector. Since then, banks continued to expand and continue a series of appointments. In the current environment, banks are not only in finance but also in IT, Insurance, Technical, Marketing, HR, Agriculture, Legal sector. A large number of career options are available and  has increased the demand for manpower. Banks need  best professionals, so the joint  examination is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personal Selection (IBPS)  which is called as the Common Written Test.

What is the process ?
Based on CWE results candidates is given
a score card, like the same way,for admission in Indian Institute of Management candidate need score card of the CAT exam. For getting job in banks it is important for a candidate to present their CWE score card.Through the Cat candidate can get admission in Management Institute  in the same way a for bank job CWE score becomes the basis for the application.

Eligibility
To sit in CWE candidates must meet the prescribed conditions. These Terms are related to educational qualification, age etc. The position for which anyone can apply for that undergraduate degree is required. The position calls for a particular academic qualifications,  for that candidate should be graduate or post graduate.For  Specialist Officer minimum age limit is 20 and maximum 35-year is fixed. Although the nature of the age limit can be changed.

Application Process
For this test candidates can apply online only. Applications sent by any other means - letters will be rejected. Complete information about it is available on the website of IBPS.

Test pattern
To get a CWE score card candidates should have to sit in a written test. Candidates can join test  through any of the medium online and offline. For position of Specialist Officers, Law Officer, Official Language Officer, etc. total 200 questions are asked which must be solved in 120 minutes. For postion of specialist officers,question asked from reasoning  50 (50 points), English Language 50 (25 points), quantitative aptitude 50 (50 points) and the Test of Professional Knowledge-50 questions (75 points).For Postion of Law Officer and the official language officer question asked from Reasning 50 (50 points), English Language 50 (25 points), the banking industry and general awareness is of  50 (50 points) and the Test of Professional Knowledge-50 questions (75 points) .

Negative marking.
There is a provision of negative marking in CWE. 0.25 points will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Recognition of the score card.
IBPS a score card will be issued to candidates after examination , the validity of the card will be  for one year. Meanwhile,candidates may apply  for bank job on the basis of this score card.

Examination Centre.
Many centers across the country are scheduled for  written examination. Candidate can choose any exam centre.
These centers  are in Hyderabad, Patna, Kolkata, Dehradun, Lucknow, Chennai, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, New Delhi, Mumbai, Delhi, Kavaratti, Bangalore, Ranchi, Jammu, Shimla, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Raipur.

Focus on preparation.

  • Due to change in selection criteria in banking sector, focus on preparation is important.
  • For English exam command on Grammar and Vocabulary is required. Practice on comprehensions is must. 
  • Practice Quantitative aptitude questions regularly.
  • Questions  on time and distance, number systems, Menstruation, interest, decimals, graphs and tables, etc., will be asked.
  • Reasoning section needs special attention. Verbal and non verbal questions are asked in this section.
  • For General Knowledge exam keep a track on National and World events. 
  • Banking sector related topics, such as bank rate, inflation, loan, insurance, etc. needs focus too.
